Lawn Restoration

Seven years ago, our yard died and never resurrected. No one can tell us what was wrong with the yard, not even the county extension agent. So aside from the lack of funds, we didn't want to do anything that might just render our efforts to futility. Not having a nice yard made us humble since it is all obvious to the neighbors and visitors that we do have a problem. I should have had a "Please pray for our yard" sign and maybe the problem would have been resolved sooner.

This year, 2009, God has answered our prayers. There was no way we could have done this because we have so many needs and the yard comes last on the list. I wondered how God would answer this prayer about the yard but He showed us last month.

First, Bobby received some money from his Mom. Next, I met our neighbors Willis B and his wife Anna Lee who were having a garage sale. Willis B. is a Master gardener and he's been a member of the Men's garden club for 20 years. He told us what was wrong with our yard and what to do to restore it. He encouraged us so much that we decided to do something about it.

Then Bobby told our Sunday School Class about it and ask if somebody may have a tiller he can borrow. David and Rhonda O. offered and brought us the tiller. Thanks David and Rhonda!!!

Bobby and Kurt worked hard tilling & grading in preparation for the sod installation. They tilled in tons of lime, humus and top soil. They cut and pulled up tree roots.

They laid the sod and set up sprinklers.

Bobby was worried the sod may not make it. I had to put in a prayer request and Willis had to reassure him.

Now, we have a nice lawn. It seems unbelievable. God helped us in restoring it. What was once desolate is now a refreshing piece of land to look at. I have to blog about it!

Hooray!!! God is good!!!

Time to relax in Kristy's pool. Our next project will be the backyard.

"Please pray for our backyard."
